In "The Children of Winter," a young man falls in love with an alien woman and learns an uncomfortable truth about his own people, while in "Ulla, Ulla," an astronaut who has traveled to Mars and back makes a discovery that changes everything he has ever believed about life on the red planet. Together with eight other short stories—most of them only published in magazines—these tales illustrate the unique vision of a writer (the Kéthani tales) who does not hesitate to challenge his readers to think carefully about the implications of tomorrow's brave new world. A good choice for larger sf or short fiction collections.
