| "Karuna, Inc.," in Paul Di Filippo's collection Strange Trades, has quickly become a favorite of reviewers and fans alike. This unique novella was originally published in the Spring 2001 issue of Fantastic Stories of the Imagination, and is therefore eligible for the preliminary ballot for the upcoming Nebula Awards. Originally we had only an excerpt from "Karuna, Inc." posted on the Infinity Plus web site, but due to this Nebula Awards consideration, we have now posted the complete text of the novella. So please check out "Karuna, Inc." and read one of the best novellas published in 2001. |
|
|
| On the "Catalog" page for Impact Parameter and Other Quantum Realities, I've posted
links to a new Geoffrey A. Landis interview and the full text for his story "Approaching Perimelasma," which
is included in the collection. The "Calendar of Events" page has also been updated. |

| First, a hearty and well-deserved congratulations to Golden Gryphon Press author Andy Duncan!
His first collection (and first book!), Beluthahatchie and Other Stories, has won the 2001 World Fantasy
Award for "Best Collection." Actually, Andy won two awards this past weekend—matching "Howard" bookends!—the second award for "Best Short Story" for
"The Pottawatomie Giant." Though this story is not included in the collection, you can read it on-line on SCIFICTION.
We have a link to this site on our "Favorite Links" page. In the SCIFICTION Archives, you can also read three stories
by Jeffrey Ford ("The Far Oasis," "Malthusian's Zombie," and "Floating in Lindrethool") which will be included in his forthcoming
collection, The Fantasy Writer's Assistant and Other Stories, in June 2002. I'm also pleased to announce a new forthcoming collection by Golden Gryphon's first author, James Patrick Kelly! Since Jim's first book, Think Like a Dinosaur and Other Stories, is nearly out of print—less than 40 copies remain!—we thought it only fitting to publish another collection of his intriguing short fiction. James Patrick Kelly is indeed a master of the short form. The collection will be entitled Strange But Not a Stranger, and will premier at the 2002 WorldCon in San Jose, California. Golden Gryphon Press has been hit fairly hard on international postage, so we now have to ask for a shipping fee of US$8.00 per book on all non-USA orders. A new field for the shipping fee has been added to the "Printable Order Form." If you are ordering electronically, links to an information page on "Non-USA Shipping Fees" have been posted throughout the site. For all our non-USA readers, fans, and collectors, we thank you in advance for your understanding on this. Additional reviews have been added to the "Catalog" pages for both Strange Trades and Impact Parameter and Other Quantum Realities. You will also find updates to the "Calendar of Events" page. |
|
|
| You can now order Golden Gryphon Press books on-line through PayPal. The shopping cart and payment process are actually maintained on the PayPal web site so your web security is guaranteed. You will find "Add to Cart" and "View Cart" buttons on the "Catalog" page for each individual book. These buttons have also been added to the "Order Form" for your convenience. For those of you who prefer hardcopy, you may still print the order form, fill it out, and send it along with a check or money order to Golden Gryphon Press. |

| Our latest book, and the first collection by Geoffrey A. Landis—Impact Parameter and Other Quantum Realities—is
now shipping. You will find this book on the "Catalog" page along with the starred review from Publishers Weekly.
This is the second Golden Gryphon book this year that has received a starred PW review! Additional reviews have been added for the Kris Rusch collection, Stories for an Enchanted Afternoon, and the Paul Di Filippo collection, Strange Trades. Both of these titles continue to receive rave reviews from both print and on-line sources. You can now read a lengthy excerpt of one Paul's recent novellas from Strange Trades, "Karuna, Inc.," which was originally published in the Spring 2001 issue of Fantastic Stories of the Imagination. Please do keep this novella in mind when nominating for next year's awards! I have also posted a recent photograph of Kevin J. Anderson with his Golden Gryphon collection, Dogged Persistence. Please note that all first edition copies of this book have a tipped-in page signed by the author at no additional charge. And the "Calendar of Events" page has been updated with upcoming author appearances. |

| Just some updates to the "Calendar" page and the "Favorite Links" page. |

|
| Congratulations to Ms. Kristine Kathryn Rusch for her Hugo Award for Best Novelette for "Millennium Babies,"
which can be found in her wonderful short fiction collection, Stories for an Enchanted Afternoon.
I bet you didn't know that the original title for this book was, in fact, Millennium Babies: A Short Story Collection!
This was the title Kris chose when she submitted the manuscript to Golden Gryphon Press. However, our distributor was hesitant to
accept a book with "Millennium" in the title because so many other such books had already been published and the "Millennium" was now, of
course, passé. So we agreed to make a title change. If only we had known . . . Paul Di Filippo's newest short fiction collection, Strange Trades—scheduled for an October 1 publication date—is now shipping. The book is listed on the "Catalog" page along with the starred review from Publishers Weekly. This collection may very well be Paul's best work to date! I have also added some additional reviews for our first novel, The Wild Boy, by Warren Rochelle, along with a link to an excerpt from the book itself. And sources in the know have informed me that less than 60 copies remain of James Patrick Kelly's Think like a Dinosaur and Other Stories, Golden Gryphon's first book. |
|
|
| Just a quick update to announce that Warren Rochelle's The Wild Boy is now shipping.
This is the first novel to be published by Golden Gryphon Press. The book is listed on the
"Catalog" page and the review from Booklist posted.

| The Big News!—Golden Gryphon Press, its books and authors, received a whopping five World Fantasy Award nominations!
We would like to congratulate finalists Neal Barrett, Jr., Michael Bishop, and Andy Duncan. The awards will be presented at the World Fantasy
Convention banquet in Montreal on November 4, 2001. See you there! As an aside, though none of our books won the recent Locus Awards, I'm proud to announce that all five of the titles we published in 2000 made the Best Collection list. And out of all the genre publishers worldwide, Golden Gryphon Press ranked number eight in the list of Best Book Publisher / Imprint. So I would like to thank you all for your continued support. Lots of changes to the site this time around! First, please check out the "Forthcoming Books" page as we now have details available—cover art, description, and contents list— for our spring/summer 2002 titles: Swift Thoughts by George Zebrowski, The Great Escape by Ian Watson, and The Fantasy Writer's Assistant and Other Stories by Jeffrey Ford. The Other Big News—Golden Gryphon Press is pleased to announce two new collections for Fall 2002! For those of you who are readers and fans of the novels by author Kage Baker, we will be publishing a collection of Kage's "Company" stories. Entitled Black Projects, White Knights: The Company Dossiers, this collection will feature three new stories written exclusively for this book. The collection will premier at the 2002 San Jose WorldCon (ConJose / WorldCon 60). The second new collection features Howard Waldrop's collaborative fiction and is entitled Custer's Last Jump and Other Collaborations with the likes of Leigh Kennedy, George R. R. Martin, Bruce Sterling, Steven Utley, and more! We're very excited about these two new titles. The "Author Appearances" page has been renamed "Calendar of Events" and will include author and artist appearances, on-line chats and interviews, and other noteworthy events. You'll even see Golden Gryphon staff names showing up on the calendar on occasion. New events have been added to the calendar through the remainder of the year. And lastly, new author and artist web sites have been added to the "Links" page. Enjoy, all! |

|
| Congratulations to Richard Paul Russo, whose first short story collection, Terminal Visions,
has just been nominated for the Pacific Northwest Endeavor Award! The winner will be announced at
Orycon 23, Portland, Oregon, on November 9-11. I have added links to the original dust jacket sketches for both Dogged Persistence and Terminal Visions, plus additional reviews (as if we really needed more!) by author Paul J. McAuley in Interzone for Blue Kansas Sky and Beluthahatchie |
|
|
| More reviews are in on Dogged Persistence, plus links to a new Kevin J. Anderson
interview and the complete text of his short story "Scientific Romance." I have now added links to the "Table of Contents" for each single-author collection and anthology. Also, the catalog information for Kelly's Think Like a Dinosaur and Robertson's The Moon Maid have been updated to reflect the text from the respective book's dust jacket. |

publication date, this new collection has shipped ahead of schedule (as have all of our books), emphasizing
GGP's commitment to its authors, distributor (IPG), and readers! We are also pleased to announce a forthcoming collection, scheduled for June 2002, from new author Jeffrey Ford. García y Robertson, and Kristine Kathryn Rusch. |
